Launch Your Own Web3 Fashion Label
With the release of the designer realms, the DIGITALAX decentralized protocol stack enables any web3 fashion designer to outflank centralized markets — even those built in part on NFTs and accepting crypto payments — as they launch their own indie designer labels, markets, and more, in coordination with a federated fleet of fellow creators.
As the entire fashion industry, from supply chain to personal expression, moves into “web3” and recognizes the value of NFTs to make and transform creative economies it becomes ever more essential that all designers continue to gain access to the core technologies and markets that make these opportunities so powerful. Decentralization isn’t merely a buzzword to shill celebrity NFTs for a quick buck and subsequent collapse in floor price. Becoming your own highly sought after fashion brand with lasting gains in reputation, a culturally aligned and hyper loyal community base, and long term capital is only possible with a full embrace of web3 principles and practices.
The following blueprint sets out the essential components for any designer launching as a web3 fashion label to fully ignite their personal brands and markets, alongside a swift moving fleet of mutually incentivized Global Designer Network DAO members.

There are 9 key components:

  • Location
  • Marketplace Set Up & Code
  • Token Incentives & Distribution
  • DAO Governance
  • Composable Fashion Standards
  • Meta Source Vaults
  • Gaming and Metaverse Utility
  • The Indexes
  • Content Distribution

Location

Although the concept of a realm might be hard to fathom now, because we are dealing with flat interfaces, in a more ubiquitous metaverse & gaming integration environment, these realms are the places that your buyers most strongly associate with, where they go to interact with you and your brand. Far more than just a market interface, these will transform overtime into evermore rich experiences of digital-physical hybrid locations, buildings, lands, activities etc. Because ultimately, demand from buyers is looking forward to when metaverse and gaming integration of web3 fashion is an all pervasive fact of daily life, on-chain, online and IRL. Without that the NFT demand we have seen over the past year wouldn’t exist. It’s anticipatory utility combined with present status signalling. These realms make the utility real.
And, in true web3 style, every location needs an immutable address that is verified by the blockchain to go with it. For this, there is no better, more prestigious, and widely used identity signifier and blockspace address registry than ENS: Ethereum Name Service. Every designer spinning up a realm first purchases an ENS subdomain under globaldesignernetwork.eth i.e. [brandlabel].globaldesignernetwork.eth.
This purchase is part of the initial commitment by every designer into the Indie Web3 Fashion Fleet, as part of the federated designer realms. It is also a commitment to the very principles of decentralisation that brought us so far in the first place; EVM chains are the most authentic, actively used and truly decentralised of all general global computing chains currently live in the market.
When a designer enters the GDN DAO and embarks on their journey to spin up their realm, the purchase of the ENS subdomain is their first step and DIGITALAX will help coordinate the process of issuance,

Marketplace Set Up & Code

All DIGITALAX code is open sourced, however, for most designers the significance and value of that may not be instantly tangible, because, in this market, unless you are a veteran solidity or web3 front end engineer, there is not much that you can do with it.
Under the realms blueprint DIGITALAX is offering support for full front end integration into our forkable, battle tested smart contracts so that every designer can start setting up their own market. A designer can choose from the front end templates open sourced by DIGITALAX or choose to engineer their own. For that second choice however, it is likely to be far more intensive, challenging and expensive than many may realise. Solidity and web3 front end engineers are not cheap, in very high demand, and knowing how to verify and vet their experience and skills effectively is something that can only be gained by being live in the market overtime yourself. For that reason, and, for the sake of advancing web3 fashion overall, DIGITALAX is committed to helping designers develop interfaces that integrate with the spin up of a realm, but, will only provide support as long as designers are coming prepared to either contract with DIGITALAX engineers to build these interfaces for you or bring in developers you find in the open market that our team can easily verify, have the proper web3 expertise, share web3 values and are ready to collaborate.
Adhering to web3 values and advancing web3 fashion in a networked approach that has the ability to overcome legacy titans of the fashion industry means a genuine commitment to adding new developed code back to the open source repos that they are built on. DIGITALAX will provide all engineers with an open repo organisation that they can commit all code to. As we benefit from the advances made by our fellow designers and web3 engineers, it is only right to make sure we pave the path for those designers and engineers that come up next.
Setting up a realm in this manner brings immense positive benefits of continuous maintenance and upgradeability made possible by the DIGITALAX engineering team and their continuous optimisation and refactoring efforts.

Token Incentives and Distribution

Every realm includes a native ERC-20 token for structuring local, inter-realm and global incentives — between yourselves as realm creators, those that buy and wear what you make, other designers in the DAO, broader DIGITALAX ecosystem, and the entire web3 fashion and metaverse economy/market.
There are two parts to the token distribution of a realm — that which is for the core realm creators and contributors, and that which is for your broader community and market, preparing you to decentralise progressively into a full DAO.
The exact token supply and distribution schedule will be effectively determined according to what suits best the unique properties of your particular realm.
In all cases there will be a minority allocation to the Global Designer Network and DIGITALAX treasuries, with most of the token supply being allocated for distribution through the DIGITALAX, GDN & other deployed Web3 fashion staking contracts — this ensures that there are well established distribution channels right from the start and decentralisation isn’t just a strongly expressed claim, but rather, is self evident. This also means that you can access and leverage unique DeFi x NFT incentive combinations for providing greater utility and value to your community of buyers.
Further, under this distribution, interoperability of the token across realms and markets becomes more accessible, with greater utility across these interoperable layers.
A portion of the total token supply will also be set aside for allocation to the realm creators and core contributors — where this distribution will take place according to both a determined base schedule, as well as at intervals when pre-established realm development milestones are successfully launched, ensuring for progressive decentralisation, sustainable growth, and at all time, the advancing of web3.

DAO Governance

Each realm will progressively decentralise into a more comprehensive DAO in itself and incorporate more governance utility for their community over time. The unique properties of each particular realm DAO shape each wave of greater decentralization through key levels of sustainability, engagement and momentum needed to be reached until the point of full DAO governance.
Cross-realm governance integrations further allow for mutual stake based coordination between realm DAOs, the DIGITALAX, GDN, and IMG DAOs, and future communities.

Composable Fashion Standards

Web3 fashion is rooted deeply in the functional value enabled by its composability. DIGITALAX continues to develop novel standards like Fractional Garment Ownership and introduce new standards in compliment to them. By way of interconnected smart contract integrations, every designer can now incorporate this base layer composability into their own garments. This offers a key value add for each realm. As such, it’s essential each designer is able to include these components effectively. FGO and Meta Source Vaults usage and contributions are further incentivized via interwoven token distribution between realms.

Meta Source Vaults

This incentive model ensures in an open and federated structure that all code built on top of realms, and the work of designers who continue to pave the path for those who come next, will add back into the open source repos of the Meta Source vaults. This allows designers across the realms to build leverage on each other’s strengths and scale quickly in the market with far more ease and support than they could if fighting against industry titans on their own. While a novel concept to those of us who have experienced the most abuse at the hands of legacy IP cartels, it is simplest to see the value and power of this model in this way:
When the strength of your story, brand, and community of buyers and fellow creators are your greatest assets, while the only thing leviathan market competitors can do against you is tightly restrict content, what can they do if the floor price of those restrictions is reduced to 0?
Some of the core examples of contributions to be made to the Meta Source vaults include that of:
  • Texture maps
  • Patterns, materials
  • 3D + 2D source files i.e. .FBX, .OBJ,. ZPAC, .ZPRJ, .BLEND, .UNITYPROJ etc.
  • Any other included NFT metadata and files

Gaming and Metaverse Utility

The DIGITALAX protocol stack is keenly focused on core usage of web3 fashion in gaming and the metaverse. Through the launch of realms, designers too will be better able to leverage expertise in these areas and gain priority for gaming integrations and additional utility for full metaverse compatibility.

The Indexes

DIGITALAX is in the process of launching two indexes to help further mature the market: iW3Fi and W3MI. Every designer realm will be eligible for inclusion in the index nomination pool, where rebalancing of each index and determination of listing inclusion (or delisting for those that don’t adhere to web3 practices) will be operated through governance of the inter-realm DAOs, DIGITALAX and GDN DAO.

Content Distribution

A key part of web3 is transparency and regular communication with your community and buyers. This is how you strengthen relationships, trust, and interest in your work. For that, DIGITALAX continues to build out strong web3 native content distribution channels that every designer can make use of and build more thoroughly on top of with their own voice.
More specifically, all realm updates will also be shared across DIGITALAX’s key content and social media channels, as well as through co-hosted Twitter spaces, Discord AMAs and other essential community building activities and events, including that of exhibition and conference space when applicable.
One key component of this is each realm launching their own version of “The Thread Weekly” which will be released at the end of each week and act as a way for would-be realm inhabitants to stay up to date and get more involved.
Key point to bring to everyone’s attention over and over again: DeFi. You know how 2+ years ago the only option anyone had for swapping tokens or doing anything of substantial financial value with them was to depend on centralized exchanges? The idea of decentralized exchanges gaining the lion share of momentum and becoming the go to for most active token holders was thought of as a far off pipe dream. But it’s now the undeniable reality and norm.
Same is happening with fashion and metaverse markets. Today it seems like a naive dream to replace the titans that control the choke points for creativity and value exchange.
How soon until fully decentralized markets take over?
How can power concentrated in the hands of a few leading labels hope to compete with fleets of indie web3 designer-labels all interconnected, launching their own forkable, composable, ever evolving, and DAO governed realms?
As 1000’s of web3 fashion labels take off, the homeport vaults (DIGITALAX, GDN, IMG, etc) underpinning the governance and growth of the entire decentralized, federated, forkable, composable fleet rise in value from the fair distribution of each designer-label token. Each realm grows both as much as their own strengths take them and in coordination with the strengths of their fellow realms.
After all, how can we expect to have a real web3 fashion economy that is transacting in the trillions of dollars of value when there are only a few concentrated marketplaces and tokens live, restricting the potential for full expression of creativity and growth of the entire market.
